Yesterday was March 11th, which is the day I celebrate the anniversary of leaving my abusive relationship in 2013. I never thought I’d be able to leave him, and doing so is by far my greatest accomplishment. Leaving took a tremendous amount of courage and risk, as from leaving an abusive relationship until two years out, there is a 75% increase of violence upon separation according to Battered Women’s Support Services.
Today I decided to celebrate the 12th anniversary of my freedom with a reflection on 12 things I now get to do, have, and experience because I’m not in an abusive relationship. Let’s get into it!
